Anchor Start race

The most exciting race of the summer.  Great job by Raven

Lostrom Trophy won by SPY and the under 22 team.

Little Egg.  Average sailing, only two races  One with 0-5 the other with 20-25  No racing on Sunday.

Jane Wilkins easily won the party.

Beachwood this Weekend

Greetings A Cat teams,

We have a new A Cat page thanks to Loraine Gough.

This is a page that you can add photos as well as your comments on the weekend racing.

Each team has its own private page to communicate with their team.

This weekend we will be sailing two races on the Wanamker course.  I think the fleet needs to go black bird hunting.  We will be sailing for the Skip Moorehouse trophy.  Skip was instrumental in the early 80's keeping the boats racing.  He would build sails for the fleet at cost.  This allowed the fleet to be somewhat even and led to the reconstruction and construction of the new fleet.  The fleet honored him with his own trophy of an A Cat half model on a plaque.

Beaton party at the Beaton boat yard at 4:00 on Sunday.  $50 per person.  This is a fund-raiser for the Barnegat Bay Charities

Morgan Cup

What a day on the bay!.  Close racing in the first race with Team Raven finding some love on the right side of the course to sail to a comfortable win in the fist race.  SPY and Torch had a photo finish for second with SPY finishing by inches ahead of Torch for second.

In the Morgan cup race all teams wisely selected to reef and what a ride.  We had strong winds, moderator winds, a no visibility squall. Lighting on the horizon.  At one point I saw lighting over Lightning. What an eerie sight.  There were mishaps all over the course. Mary Ann involved in a protest. Vapor and Raven had to withdrawal due to sail failures.  Each boat has its own story to tell but Team Lotus found the left side of the course to be favorable on the first leg and they held their lead to win the Morgan Cup.. The BBYRA wisely choose to shorten the race due to the threatening weather .  Spy followed the Lotus around the race course but could not cut into the lead and finished a solid second with team Lightning finishing third.  The IHYC Trophy the Morgan Cup was presented to the IHYC Lotus team at a BBQ with IHYC Spy in second and IHYC Lighting in third.  A memorable day for the IHYC.

Junior Races

Next week is big!  This is where we have a morning race with the junior sailors. This week the up bay boats will take out the junior sailors from the up bay clubs. Please meet your sailors at the flag pole at 8:30 am at MYC.   Due to a large enrollment at MYC and BHYC SPY will be sailing along with Ghost, Raven, Torch, Mary Ann, Raven, Vapor. You must register for this race.
If your boat will not be sailing please notify fleet captain Jimmy Kellogg.
